Content creators Woeler and Alcast join us to discuss ESO-Hub’s latest project, the ESO Build Editor, that allows anyone to create character builds and share them with the community.
Thank you for joining us today! We know the ESO Build Editor just recently came out of beta. How long was this project in production?
We started active development in February of 2022, so around three months. However, the concept has been in our minds for well over a year.
So, you’ve been working on this for a while! Can you tell us about your goals for the tool?
Our goal was to create an accessible Build Editor for both PC and console players. We wanted to make the process of creating builds as easy and fast as possible for both mobile and desktop as we understand that not everyone has access to a PC when they are gaming, especially console players. This is why we wanted to create a universal experience for all platforms.
The ESO Build Editor
There is so much you can do with it, but are there any specific ESO Build Editor features you think players should know about?
You can create a build in English and a person that views the build can view it in most supported ESO languages (EN/DE/FR/ES/RU). The Build Editor has data for all of them.
Can you tell us about the community’s feedback for the project?
So far, we have gotten amazing feedback from the community and already implemented a few suggestions. Most players pointed out that they were amazed at how fast you could create a build with the editor and how easy it was to create builds even on the mobile version. For instance this Magicka Sorcerer build.

How many people are working with you on the project?
We have two developers and one product owner working on the Build Editor. Next to those we also had a team of community alpha testers.
It’s extremely impressive what you and your team have accomplished thus far. How do you hope to evolve it as time goes on?
We will do another round of feedback and see what else we can implement that will increase the quality of the tool. And of course, anything new that ESO comes up with will be added to the editor as well, as we like to keep things up to date on ESO-Hub.com.
We also want to make sure that players can share their builds easily on their public profile page, which we constantly improve with new features. For example, this user page.
How much work goes into keeping ESO-Hub up to date as the game continues to change and gain content?
Since we launched ESO-Hub in 2020 it has grown to encompass pretty much all aspects of The Elder Scrolls Online. As the website grows, keeping it up to date naturally becomes more work. We have an entire team of developers and writers working on ESO-Hub every single day.
As you’re aware, the upcoming High Isle Chapter will be hitting live servers very soon. What kind of changes in character builds are you anticipating once it launches?
More builds will use a mix of Stamina and Magicka abilities since the hybridization changes had a pretty big impact on builds and what kind of skills you can utilize. It basically opened up more options if your build can sustain it.
Where can players go to support your work on ESO-Hub?
Check out the Build Editor, test it out, and create a build. Of course, we are also happy if players share the info with their ESO friends. The ESO builds overview page helps players find all the builds on ESO-Hub. Here you can select different tags such as class, role, type, and a few others. You can also use the search field to find builds or creators more accurately.

Thank you Woeler and Alcast for taking the time to speak with us today! We’re sure players are going to love creating and sharing their builds with others in the #ESOFam. If you know an ESO content creator who you believe deserves to be celebrated with the rest of the community, please share them with us via Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
