Five Fun Ways to Celebrate the Holiday Season in The Elder Scrolls Online

12/23/2021

Want to show off your holiday spirit while adventuring across Tamriel? We’ve got five festive methods that are guaranteed to help!

It’s that time of year when snow blankets the trees across many regions of the world, spirits rise, and the Evening Star falls across the firmament. Around this period, people feel inexplicably inclined to spread merriment and cheer, swept up in the intoxicating pull of the holiday season. This is no different for the denizens of Tamriel, so we want to make sure you can flaunt your festive spirit while playing The Elder Scrolls Online.

Here are five unique ways you can spread a little holiday cheer the next time you log into ESO.

Bake a Festive Treat

Baked goods are the perfect tie-in with the holidays, so why not cook up some tasty delights of your own utilizing the Provisioning skill line?

Here are a few beginner-friendly recipe options for you to try out:

  • Shepard’s Pie—With layers of minced meat topped with creamy mashed potatoes, this savory dish serves as an excellent main course for your holiday meal. As a nice bonus, it also provides a temporary bonus to your Health and Stamina.
    • Ingredients
      • Game
      • Potato
  • Creamcheese Frosted Gorapple Cake—For dessert, we know you’ll enjoy this delicious, fruity cake topped with cream cheese frosting. Once you’ve finished eating, for the next hour you’ll notice an increase in your Magicka and Stamina.
    • Ingredients
      • Apples
      • Carrots
      • Cheese
  • Torval Mint Tea—This sweet, minty beverage pairs well with the other tasty treats you’ll be chowing down on. Spellcasters particularly appreciate this drink as it increases their Magicka for 35 minutes.
    • Ingredients
      • Mint
      • Honey

If you don’t have these recipes on hand, go visit your nearest Guild Trader, Chef, or Brewer, then browse their shop’s selection. Or, if you’re feeling sneaky, peak inside nearby crates in town. You never know what you’ll find. Just don’t let the guards catch you “borrowing” what doesn’t belong to you!

Show Off Your Holiday Fashion Sense

Take advantage of ESO’s Outfit System and create your own unique holiday look! Whether it be a warm winter coat, a toymaker’s uniform, or the Elder Scroll’s equivalent of an “ugly Christmas sweater,” let creativity guide your hand!

If you’re looking for additional materials to shape your outfit, you’re in luck! The rewards featured in the New Life Festival 2021 event are the perfect finishing piece to top off your winter costume. Here are just a few:

  • Nordic Bather's Towel costume
  • Colovian Filigreed Hood hat
  • Colovian Fur Hood hat

Still haven’t quite found that missing element to your outfit? Speak to your local Guild Trader and see what they have in stock. You’re also likely to come across new crafting styles while adventuring through the vast lands of Tamriel. Keep your eyes peeled; you never know what you might come across. And feel free to consult this handy Outfit System Basics guide if you feel lost on which direction to take!

Decorate a Holiday Home

For many people, it has become an annual pastime to decorate their homes in holiday splendor as the year nears its close. This tradition has carried over into ESO, as players transform their homes into festive abodes via the housing system.

In fact, we recently highlighted some incredible holiday homes—check them out if you’re looking for some inspiration. You can craft and loot your own furnishings for your residences, but if you want some New Life-specific decorations, be sure to check out the New Life Festival Furnishing Pack ESO Plus™ deal before it leaves the Crown Store.

Gift a Special Someone a Crown Store Item

Gift-giving and the holidays are practically synonymous with one another, so what better way to get into the winter spirit by gifting a friend, family member, guildmate, or even a random stranger one of the many items in the Crown Store?

Simply browse the store for the perfect gift, make a selection, and then choose the option “Purchase as Gift.” Then enter your recipient’s UserID, Gamertag, or PSN ID, and voilà! You’ve just made someone’s day.

Take Part in the New Life Festival

Lastly, be sure to take part in this year’s New Life Festival celebrations. The New Life Festival in-game event is ESO’s winter-themed occasion, and it’s now live and continues until Tuesday, January 4 at 10AM EST.

You can participate in the festivities to receive bonus XP and unique rewards such as mementos, cosmetics, pets, and more. Grab the New Life Festival quest from the in-game Crown Store to kick off your journey to spread holiday cheer to the inhabitants across Tamriel!
