02/14/2018

On the 16th of Sun's Dawn, all of Tamriel comes together for Heart's Day, a cross-cultural celebration of love and camaraderie. Celebrate this joyous event with us and enjoy these tales of real-world relationships that blossomed out of in-game ones.

Hun-Tra's Gift Leads to A Wedding

When Tecsie and I moved in together she only had a PS3 and an old laptop at the time, so I gave her my old PC so that we could play together. She actually gifted ESO to me as a surprise on my birthday in 2014. Eventually, I managed to lure her into the world of Elder Scrolls, too, and so she bought ESO for herself as well. I was so happy; I've been a fan of The Elder Scrolls ever since I bought TES III: Morrowind in 2004, and now I could travel through my favorite world with my favorite person! Sometime later, we got engaged in real life, and of course we got married in ESO as well!

I love how our characters are Argonian and Dunmer – it feels like there's a bit of a forbidden love thing going on there!

Those Who Delve Together, Stay Together

I met my husband in ESO. During beta and shortly after full launch, I was an enthusiastic-yet-casual player. I loved questing with my Nightblade, the lore, and crafting. While trying to expand my horizons one day, I answered a call for a DPS for the dungeon Spindleclutch. I was grossly out of my element.

However, in that dungeon, I met an amazing healer named Fiora Starbreeze. Through all my dungeon stumblings she kept me alive. After that, she invited me to her PvP guild. I began to get my feet wet in PvP, and Fiora was right there to show me the ropes.

Despite guild changes and breaks from playing ESO as the years went by, we remained in touch. I got to know the man behind the character, and we started texting and Skyping steadily every day for several months.

In June of 2015, we made the big leap and he moved 1400 miles so we could be together. We were married in February of 2017 and I have never been happier in my whole life. He has not only been an amazing life partner, but through his encouragement, I realized that my greatest strength in ESO lies in tanking. Since meeting him that day in Spindleclutch, I've never enjoyed my life or my gaming life more. He's healed my character and healed my life. Now, I am doing end-game content AND I have someone to spend the rest of my life with.

So thank you, ESO, thank you for helping me find so much happiness!

Yours truly,

Beverly Nutcrusher, Tanker of Things

Nicky Finds Elloa

Our story begins as all good stories do, with a beta access key. Back in 2013, I knew exactly nothing about the upcoming Elder Scrolls Online; all I knew was that I loved the Elder Scrolls franchise, and this was enough to get me pumped up for its release.

I initially started playing ESO with a few friends that I had convinced (read: forced) to join me. At the time I was out of work due to sickness, so my free time could not be equaled, and I quickly left them in the dust as I powered through the content, levelling several characters and even finishing Cadwell's Gold a couple of times.

This was my first gaming love. Once in a lifetime, a lucky few get to experience a game so intoxicating. You may know the feeling; staying up until 4am just to finish that one last quest or waking up in the morning and logging in before you've even brushed your teeth. Even when I wasn't in game, I needed more, and it's this pursuit that lead me to YouTube looking for any and all content I could consume.

During my searches I came upon a channel of a beautiful woman with a hot French accent. Her name was Elloa. While one normally doesn't like to share too much about a love or romance, gaming is the exception. Gamers love to share their passion with others! That's why we rock! \o/

I spent several months watching Elloa's content, even watching her livestream from time to time. Her soft, calm voice was soothing and a real pleasure to listen to. Now, I often joke that I stalked her, and whilst this is mostly in jest, there was one time where I felt I just had to meet her, albeit in game.

During one of her livestreams, I travelled to her location to say hello, she was very pleasant and I even think we did a dungeon (Volenfell, if I recall). After this, I joined her guild and even took part in some guild events. We lost contact for nearly three years after this point. However, before we lost contact, we thankfully had the foresight to add each other on Facebook, and it was here nearly three years later that an impromptu message with basic pleasantries led to us renewing our friendship. We started playing together again during the New Life Festival (I couldn't make this stuff up).

I will leave you with one final thought; ESO has given me many great things, even before meeting Elloa.

It gave me an escape during a difficult time in my life. It gave me a sense of purpose and goals I felt I could achieve, even when real life goals were out of my reach. And nearly every person I speak to on a daily basis I've met through ESO. I owe it and the hard people that work on it every single day a great deal.

Chris and Nikki Escape Together

My wife Nikki and I were married in 2009. One of the things that we shared in common is our mutual love of video games. We're both gamers, we both grew up with households where video games were the hobby of choice, and we both love our MMORPG's best of all.

I've loved the The Elder Scrolls series since Daggerfall, and I am proud to have introduced my wife to the series. From the moment she saw me playing TES IV: Oblivion, she also fell in love with the series. From the deeply engrossing lore, the gorgeous worlds, and the amazing multitudinous ways to customize your personal experience, she fell just as much in love with the series as I did.

Unfortunately, the first-person perspective gives her motion sickness, so her ability to play the series was limited at best.

Then we heard that ZeniMax Online Studios was creating an Elder Scrolls MMORPG. Needless to say, we were ecstatic! Since we both game on the Xbox One, we waited patiently until it released for the console market, and we preordered it as soon as we could. We've been delving into and exploring Tamriel in ESO since the game was launched, and the depth of meaning this game has for us cannot be overstated.

There's always rough patches in life. Putting my wife through her Master's Degree program, raising two teenagers, our busy professional lives, and now I'm going through school myself. But through all of the rough patches, we always had, and will continue to have, ESO. I cannot describe how wonderful it is; after a long day at work, or particularly difficult day in class, or when the bills seem insurmountable; to be able to have my wife and I sign in to ESO, escape the troubles of the day and just have our Khajiit roam the gorgeous expanses of this game.

The ability for my wife and me to share this time together has definitely strengthened our marriage. Everything about the deeply engaging quests, the colorful NPC characters (we love you Raz and Naryu!), and the depth of the end-game activities captivates us. It gives us amazing experiences to share together. Our Khajiit are married in the game, and we even run a guild together. Since we play primarily together (just the two of us) we know that MMO's are packed with people who love to play solo or in very small groups. So together, Nikki and I created 'The Nightshade Consortium' to give those kinds of players a place to offload or sell their unwanted gear/equipment, meet up for impromptu groups, or to simply have the backing of a guild without any of the requirements that some other ones place on their members.

The ability to do all of this together, in this magical, richly detailed world, is the real draw to ESO. The fact that my wife and I can just get away from everything, run through a few dungeons, pull off a couple assassinations for the Dark Brotherhood, check out the Crown Store to see if anything catches our eyes, or even just have a day of farming materials, means the world to us.

With our deeply abiding love of MMORPG's, Nikki and I are so grateful to have such a wonderful, proper MMORPG like The Elder Scrolls Online to spend our time in. The world that you have brought to life in this game, and the great times and wonderful joys that this game has given to us and to our marriage, simply is… amazing!

We would like to thank you all at ZeniMax Online Studios for not only creating this game, but for all of the (very obvious) hard work that you put into maintaining it, as well as creating new content for it.

We have loved the game since launch, and as each year passes, we love it more and more. We've been here, sharing this awesome game since it launched for the Xbox One, and we cannot see ourselves leaving this game for as long as it is running.

Our love grows deeper every year, and our shared love of this game grows every year as well.

Thank you, ZOS. For this game, for allowing us to explore your beautiful world, and for giving my wife and I one of the greatest activities that we can partake of together.

We love you, and we definitely love this game!

Sincerely,

Chris and Nikki Mohr.
