Battlemaster’s Corner – Werewolf from the North

02/17/2015

This battle-hardened Dragonknight is more than your typical Nord.

The Battlemaster's Corner is pleased to present another interesting player build this week. Part man, part wolf, and all bloodthirsty rage, the Werewolf from the North strikes terror into the hearts of any foolish enough to stand against him. Read on to check out the build, but do note that this build was submitted prior to the Update 6 changes, so some of the abilities may be altered in the near future.

We want to see your builds, too – especially if you've been developing a new one on the PTS with Update 6! Send your details to community@elderscrollsonline.com and we'll take a look. Don't forget to include a handful of nice screenshots featuring your character.

Werewolf from the North

From the coldest parts of Skyrim comes the adventurer who was born to survive. Meet Ulfvaldr, a Werewolf from the North. The blood of the beast gives him the ability to handle small armies by himself. You may think he is a lonely warrior in the field, but you'd be wrong. After several years of serving in the military, he developed a sense of leadership. Put him in a group with several warriors and they will be unstoppable.

Ulfvaldr is the kind of friend you want to group with. His skills balance taking and dealing damage, making him a special kind of soldier. He can handle all solo and Public Dungeons on his own. Give him just one healer and he could conquer Group Dungeons, too! And when he teams up with his friend The Daedric Monk (featured earlier), even Veteran Dungeons become quite possible to beat.

Let's take a closer look at what makes Ulfvaldr a force to be reckoned with.

Main Bar: The Fortress (Axe and Shield)

Puncture (Ransack) – If you want to keep attention of the enemy away from your friends, then this is what you need. The morph also gives you a bit of extra armor and reduces your enemy's.

Dragon Blood (Green Dragon Blood) – This is your main source of health if you're playing alone or when the healer is down. The morph also increases your stamina regeneration, which could save not only your own life, but the lives of your teammates as well.

Spiked Armor (Razor Armor) – Mostly used in battles with bosses. The morph, with its extra armor, can save you from unexpected deadly attacks.

Low Slash (Crippling Slash) – The main purpose of this ability is to generate ultimate from each attack. Also it decreases the enemy's damage done. Since it's your only strong damaging ability, you'll use it pretty often and your enemies will always deal less damage.

Bone Shield – This ability I picked up relatively recently, and it surprised me by becoming very useful. It gives you a huge amount of armor, but the main purpose is to grant your allies 60% of their health as a damage shield. When I am playing with a healer in Veteran Dungeons, this ability covers my butt and the butts of my friends! I don't know the morph for this ability yet, but it's already paying off.

Dragonknight Standard (Standard of Might) – If our hero is surrounded by the enemy and there is nobody near to clear a path ahead, the Mighty Standard falls from the sky and burns every enemy to the ground. Even if it doesn't kill the enemy, the Standard grants our hero the ultimate power to hold the line and deal more damage, which nobody could possibly survive. The main ultimate against big groups of enemies with large amounts of health.

Secondary Bar: The Beast (Two-handed Axe)

Inferno (Sea of Flames) – This ability is a little bit tricky. Because it's a toggle ability, you can forget about it or miss the right timing and lose all your magicka, which could lead to sudden death. Usually, I use it against big groups of small enemies or in situations when I don't need the healing or armor ability.

Dragon Blood (Green Dragon Blood) – Sometimes the fight is so furious that you don't have time to change bars to heal yourself. For such cases, I put this ability on both bars.

Spiked Armor (Razor Armor) – The same as the Dragon Blood. These two abilities are the main means of surviving of our hero.

Cleave (Carve) – Main source for your ultimate. Also works perfectly with Standard of Might. Once used, you put the Sea of Flames on and start slashing around with Carve. After only a few seconds, you almost instantly get your ultimate. Then repeat the process if needed. Nobody can survive that!

Uppercut (Wrecking Blow) – Tired of your enemy? Use the Uppercut and launch him into the open sky! It not only stuns your enemy and deals a lot of damage, but it also gives you deep satisfaction. Especially useful when enemy is standing on some cliff.

Werewolf Transformation (Pack Leader) – I don't use this ultimate often, but if you need to take out some big enemies really fast, then this is exactly what you need. I mostly use it when I'm in a group. Almost all the abilities from the Werewolf Line are buffs not only for player, but also for people in the group. This is very useful for playing through Trials.

The attributes for this build took me a long time to figure out. This is a very unique type of warrior, and I need to be balanced between all three attributes. Put 34 points in health, 16 in magicka, and 12 in stamina. Epic quality food also gives me some extra boost. The enchantments on my armor are solely for health. Exceptions are the rings and a necklace – they are enchanted with legendary armor, which makes it super overcharged. I'm using two sets of armor: Orgnim's Scales and Vampire's Kiss. My Mundus Stone is the Lady, and all traits on armor are Divines, which also gives me a huge amount of armor. This build makes my health, armor, and health regeneration constantly overcharged. And at some points, my armor gets so overcharged that it absorbs practically 100% of physical damage received, which takes away the need for healing. Unfortunately, such extreme armor doesn't last very long.

As for the passive abilities – I leveled all class (Dragonknight) abilities, Two-handed, One-Handed and Shield, Werewolf, Fighters Guild, Racial skills, and Heavy Armor.

That's all I have. And I also want to give shout-out to my guild Ebonclaw Pack (http://ebonclawpack.guildlaunch.com/) - right now we are taking a break, but in February we'll start to hunt again.
