Looking for a French-speaking guild that loves helping its members? Read on!
No matter what you love doing in ESO, the Worlds Watchmen have a place for you. This French-speaking guild has been around for quite a while, and we'd like to introduce them to you. They're always looking for folks to join them, so read on to see if they're the guild for you.
Would you like to see your guild featured here? Join the discussion on our official forums and don’t forget to share pictures of your guild with us! Now, the interview:
The Worlds Watchmen
What is your guild’s name? Does that name have a special history or significance?
We are the Worlds Watchmen! And.. we watch over several game worlds while drinking herbal tea brewed by our craftsmen!
When was your guild formed? Tell us the story of how the guild came to be.
The Watchmen is a multi-world (multi-game) guild formed 11 years ago. It's a place where mature players like to get together, so we don’t really mind younger players leaving us for other guilds. It all started on Dark Age Of Camelot, when a shaman was picking mushrooms. Red-headed witches had the idea to infuse certain ingredients, and... the herbal tea was born!
What alliance has your guild sworn fealty to?
Daggerfall!
Why did you choose that alliance?
Because after Skyrim and Morrowind, we knew everybody would be rushing to Ebonheart! And we don’t really like Elves, either.
How many members does your guild currently have?
In ESO, we have about a hundred (more like several hundred globally), with about twenty active Watchmen online every evening in Tamriel.
Does your guild have a website?
Of course! Our Tavern (forum) welcomes new candidates and comforts our veterans after their exhausting missions! Our archives contain a wealth of memories and truly are a mine of information. We also organize outings, ceremonies, and etc. Legends say that a secret cave is hidden there, but everybody knows legends aren’t real. http://forum.veilleurs.org
What times and days is the guild most active?
Outings are a regular occurrence (roleplay, PvP, PvE, and more), but we place the Real Lives of our members above everything else. Even if a few play during the day, the majority of the Watchmen play in the evening Sunday through Thursday (9pm to midnight CET).
What countries do your members span?
We are all exclusively French! Darn, I always forget—there are also players from Belgium and Switzerland.
What activities in ESO do your members enjoy doing together most?
All of them! Our activities are shaped in our members’ image. Everyone proposes outings following their mood in the moment. From audio roleplay to keep sieges, dungeons, fishing contests—you name it, we do it.
What is your favorite activity when you gather in game? Pillaging dungeons, breaking into forts in Cyrodiil, trading and roleplaying in taverns, or working on your guild craftsmanship and business?
Like I explained earlier, we do pretty much everything, and we own a guild bank and a guild store. Our craftsmen work for the community and everybody collects resources for them. An exchange of favors, if you will.
What makes your guild unique?
More seriously, our values extol mutual aid and respect for everyone’s game time. There are no obligations other than working together for the good of the community.
Is your guild part of a larger alliance of guilds? Why did you join them?
We are friendly with a few other French-speaking guilds with which we sometimes share activities. The main goal is to plan our actions, especially when we head to Cyrodiil.
Does your guild ever host special events? If so, tell us about them!
Besides the usual activities, we could mention our herbal tea initiation ceremonies for new recruits, hunting contests, treasure hunts, or scripted audio roleplay (that's right).
What is your favorite or most memorable moment as a guild so far in ESO?
There are so many! Come consult our archives!
Does your guild secretly (or not so secretly) follow a specific Daedric Prince? If so, which one?
If you want to know if we have lycans or vampires in our ranks, the answer is yes. But this is not a precept of our guild, everybody is free and we value tolerance—even towards those fleabags.
After a long day of adventuring, where does your guild enjoy gathering to wind down?
At the tavern, of course! There, we polish our armor, display our engravings, and reminisce about our adventures with an invigorating, steamy cup of herbal tea! We also enjoy chewing the fat and planning our activities on TeamSpeak.
Tell us five fun facts about your guild.
- During a roleplay session where I played a Dominion mage, I sent a few “yellows” to attack my guildmates (from the Covenant). Since the Watchmen are always the strongest, the newbies were slightly mad at me!
- Recently, in Cyrodiil, our friend Keylar Vogon started to dance with an old emperor from an opposing alliance. She’s such a flirt!
- We have members of the hair-elite among the Watchmen: the Flamboyant Redheads! Although it seems that the bald ones are a growing minority.
- The official version of our expeditions report thatThe Watchmen never die, even when the balance of power is three-to-one against us!
- Neflasombre gets lost very often (but we still love you, Nefla).
- The Watchmen never kneel before anyone—except for proposals or to pick mushrooms.
- The Watchmen are long-distance travelers and spice merchants (no herbal tea without herbs, right?). They also look after a few artifacts.
Wa can’t really disclose everything publicly, but these are a few examples.
Don’t be afraid, come closer and come watch with us. In the center of the room, the Eye of the Watchers shines...
If people are interested in joining your guild, who should they contact?
Stop by our tavern: http://forum.veilleurs.org
Submit an application form (try to stay in-character while introducing yourself in a few lines), read our charter, and sign it! Leaving a basket full of mushrooms on the premises may or may not tip the scale in your favor.
An officer will then contact you. See you soon!
