Schattenwind
What is your guild’s name? Does that name have a special history or significance?
The name of our proud community is Schattenwind (“Shadow Wind” in English); a lot of PvP players know us as SW.
Schattenwind is a traditional name that was first found in our books in 2009, according to the old stories. It is said that a pack of wolves, always keeping to the shadows, left their home and traveled west with the wind towards civilization. Over the years, these creatures mixed with others and became known by the family name Schattenwind. The family turned into a dynasty and the dynasty grew into its own empire.
When was your guild formed? Tell us the story of how the guild came to be.
From within the confines of the already-established organization for Age of Conan, we had already planned to build a subgroup of Schattenwind for ESO in autumn 2013. In a small group including Krauter, Darius, Elbo, and Taiwaz, we formed the first ideas for Schattenwind in ESO.
Thanks to the existing administrative structure Heike and Nanakie built, we were able to establish nice, comfortable surroundings right from the launch of the game, allowing our members to have fun and chat with each other.
What alliance has your guild sworn fealty to?
Our loyalty lies with the Ebonheart Pact. We defend keeps, resources, land, and the population from the uncivilized Daggerfall Covenant and Aldmeri Dominion as well as the evildoers of the Aetherian Archives, Hel Ra Citadel, and the Sanctum Ophidia.
Why did you choose that alliance?
The word of the hour is “democracy.” Within the group of 30 founders, we collectively decided to join the ranks of the Ebonheart Pact.
How many members does your guild currently have?
We can count 170 brave and well-trained members among our ranks. It is extremely important to us to only have active members in our community, but how members spend their time is up to them. Between frequent PvP fights and Trials, we also offer special events that are meant to help bring everyone together more easily.
Does your guild have a website?
We run a well-tended website which we share with our players from Age of Conan. It’s worth having a look. In the future we’re planning on presenting a TESO video. http://schattenwind-online.de
What times and days is the guild most active?
It’s part of the nature of things that we’re mostly active at the end of the regular work hours. Though, since we do have shift workers as well as students in our community, you can usually find at least 10 people online during the day.
What countries do your members span?
We assume that a lot of different languages and nationalities are part of our gild. However, the most-spoken language is German with all of its dialects.
What activities in ESO do your members enjoy doing together most?
We concentrate on allocating our available resources to organize PvP as well as PvE Trials during the evenings. As we have mentioned before, we also hold special events. As an example, we held a contest for the Dragonstar Arena in which the three best groups of our guild received a reward.
Thanks to a large logistic effort, we are able to plan several PvP events for our members during the evenings. The same goes for PvE, where we offer Trial runs three times a week. This is only possible thanks to the players in our community, who give their time to our guild to offer these structured evenings.
What makes your guild unique?
You could say that an active community of 170 German-speaking players has become rare. In addition to this, we offer the whole spectrum of the game’s activities to our members. We even have a trade guild.
Is your guild part of a larger alliance of guilds? Why did you join them?
Thanks to the number of active players in Schattenwind, we can forgo having to commit ourselves to an alliance. This makes planning for our community activities and communication between our officers much easier.
Does your guild ever host special events? If so, tell us about them!
We plan our events by building on the groundwork we are given. We are especially happy with the introduction of the Dragonstar Arena. To motivate as many players as possible to complete the Dragonstar Arena successfully, we offered a reward to the first three groups.
Another notable event is the mammoth hunt, where a lot of our members use their abilities to cause as much damage as they could in the least amount of time possible. The best of their respective classes are rewarded with a title until someone else surpasses them.
As a small highlight, we also hold a Cyrodiil shard event where we gather all the Skyshards in Cyrodiil. It is very interesting see how startled some of the players in other alliances can look.
What is your favorite or most memorable moment as a guild so far in ESO?
Our first virtual guild gathering, which a lot of our excited ESO players attended. It was very impressive. In that moment, we realized the diversity and the real number of people this community is made of.
Does your guild secretly (or not so secretly) follow a specific Daedric Prince? If so, which one?
In the name of the guild leadership, we do not support any Daedric Prince—however, we have heard rumors that there are some groups who do not support this neutrality, which we are currently looking into.
After a long day of adventuring, where does your guild enjoy gathering to wind down?
A lot of our members relax in Cyrodiil, gathering flowers or just chatting over TeamSpeak. In addition to that, our communities from World of Tanks and Age of Conan offer some variety as well.
Tell us five fun facts about your guild.
There are most likely more than just five fun facts about our guild, but most of them would only make sense to insiders within our community. Therefore, we’d rather share some information about something we really care about.
We have a very special someone in our community. This person cares for their family with all their strength and energy. Due to this, they have limited opportunities to experience the game in its entirety. In spite of this, we invite this person to all of our events, including Trials. We have several volunteers who help this player see more of the game, and we want to thank those who put in their time to help out.
If people are interested in joining your guild, who should they contact?
If there is any interest to check our community out, you are welcome to contact the following members or apply on our homepage: @Krauter, @Sausack, @Phantom
