Guild Spotlight – Champions de Lorkhan

12/10/2014

Are you looking for a French-speaking guild that doesn’t hesitate to help its members out? Check out today’s guild!

Every guild has a unique identity, and it’s important for members to stay close together to preserve it. For some guilds, that means being selective about recruitment, but maybe not having the numbers to tackle the more demanding challenges in Tamriel. But is that a reason to compromise your identity? Champions de Lorkhan don’t think so. They’ve created a network of guilds that love working together but still keep their own identity. Find out more about them in our interview!

We want to share your guild with the world, too! All you have to do is fill out the interview in this thread. Don’t forget to include some fun pictures of your guild.

Champions de Lorkhan

What is your guild’s name? Does that name have a special history or significance?

Our guild is called Champions de Lorkhan. I wanted a name made out of several words, including a “rank” and an “allegiance” of sorts. After a few unsatisfactory forays into TES lore, Lorkhan appeared a self-evident choice; through his intervention was Nirn created, along with those who live and fight on it. I will confess, as well, to a bout of nostalgia over Morrowind (Lorkhan’s heart).

When was your guild formed? Tell us the story of how the guild came to be.

It was founded on July 3rd, 2014. The summer period saw quite a few members leave for other guilds, and the roster was seriously depleted. I imagined we were not the only guild struggling to progress because of insufficient membership, so I reached out to others to develop and alliance without compromising our guilds’ identities. And so was born the alliance of guilds.

What alliance has your guild sworn fealty to?

The Daggerfall Covenant.

Why did you choose that alliance?

My first character had joined a guild (now unfortunately disbanded, but which lead to the founding of this guild) from that alliance. Fealty to that guild meant fealty to that alliance.

How many members does your guild currently have?

Currently (as of December 4), we number over a hundred members (guild masters and officers) across thirty or so guilds.

Does your guild have a website?

http://www.champions-de-lorkhan.com

But the website is only used to advertise the alliance through an introduction, a description of the way things work, a list of all participating guilds, and instructions for joining.

What times and days is the guild most active?

Like many players, we are mostly online after 5PM, with about 15 to 25 members (and sometimes 35 or 40 in the evening), spanning 5 to 10 guilds—sometimes more. On weekends, the figure can vary to twice that across wider timespans.

What countries do your members span?

I only recruit French-speaking players, to allow for congeniality and ease of communication in chat or voicechats (teamspeak, mumble). Language is not a deal-breaker, but it is easier to communicate and help out when players understand each other.

What activities in ESO do your members enjoy doing together most?

Whether it’s PvE or PvP, activities are set up according to various offers and demands. Most of our guilds favor PvE, but some of them are dedicated to PvP action and will rally others to their cause.

What is your favorite activity when you gather in game? Pillaging dungeons, breaking into forts in Cyrodiil, trading and roleplaying in taverns, or working on your guild craftsmanship and business?

Each guild has its own way of enjoying the game, and that constitutes the patchwork of all we do. The most important aspect of our alliance is helping each other. That principle can lend itself to any activity.

What makes your guild unique?

Our goal of establishing links between different guilds. You can already find merchant alliances connecting buyers, sellers, and makers. Mine connects guild masters and officers with those of other guilds, allowing them to ask for help or offer assistance.

Is your guild part of a larger alliance of guilds? Why did you join them?

Larger guilds are reluctant to join up in our alliance. Our primary goal of connecting guilds with less members is more appreciated by smaller outfits.

Does your guild ever host special events? If so, tell us about them!

Each event from the Champions is special due to the way the groups are formed. A mix of players from different guilds can play together without the rivalry caused by conflicting communities and their goals.

What is your favorite or most memorable moment as a guild so far in ESO?

The first time three guilds came to an agreement to tackle the challenges of the Aetherian Archive and came out victorious. Or the fact that two guilds sharing a similar approach to the game, after a few meets and lots of voice chats, came to realize that they were perfectly matched, and decided to fuse. That was the first, but by no means the last, of such mergers.

Those are the facts that make me proud of the way we work.

Does your guild secretly (or not so secretly) follow a specific Daedric Prince? If so, which one?

None to this day, but given the various origins of our members, I shudder at the thought of how many Princes could be a suitable answer.

After a long day of adventuring, where does your guild enjoy gathering to wind down?

Each has his or her own habits. Resting by a fire, sharpening their weapons near the anvil, or filling up on beer and meat, I guess.

Tell us five fun facts about your guild.

I have few facts to share (on a personal level and relevant to the guild) for now, because I cannot possibly be everywhere, in each group formed.

But while recruiting, I meet a lot of interested players who share the info with their officers, only to realize that said officers are already part of the alliance. Our concept is all encompassing, and can appeal to anyone.

If people are interested in joining your guild, who should they contact?

Mostly, it will be guilds (officers and masters) who want to join, and rarely isolated players. The easiest way is by talking to me in-game—just whisper (@Mysticals), send me mail, or add me as a friend. I will be available to answer any and all questions in-game or via teamspeak.

Remember that the guild is a gathering of other French-speaking guild masters and officers. Our recruitments are not for isolated players seeking a simple outfit. At best, that application would be relayed in the chatroom, and recruiters would then reach out to the applicant.
